EMF Assessment, Testing & Surveys
What We Do
Our workplace electromagnetic field (EMF) surveys provide a detailed, quantitative evaluation of EMF exposure risks across your facility. EMF assessment typically includes assessments of magnetic fields generated from plant and machinery based on ICNIRP field strength limits, forming a key part of your site risk review.
We measure actual employee exposure to EMFs from sources such as high-voltage power lines, welding sets, fork lift chargers, non-destructive testing, induction furnaces, and transformers.
At Validate Consulting Ltd, we deliver thorough EMF assessments fully compliant with HSE standards and CEMFAW 2016 requirements. Our Occupational Hygiene Consultants use Wave control SMP2 EMF monitoring meters to conduct precise measurements.
Why EMF Assessment matters
Under the UK’s Control of Electromagnetic Fields at Work Regulations 2016, employers have a legal obligation to protect workers from occupational EMF exposure. These regulations also require special consideration for “at risk” individuals, including those with pacemakers or other sensitive electronic devices, to prevent additional health risks.
What You Receive
Following the EMF assessment, you will receive a clear and comprehensive report outlining:
• Measurement methods and equipment used
• Detailed EMF exposure results
• Practical recommendations to reduce risks
• Identification of high-exposure areas and guidance on protective measures (e.g., EMF shielding and awareness training)

EMF FAQ
What are the health effects of EMF’s?
Indirect effects can also occur, for example, when a magnetic object moves uncontrolled towards a magnet, potentially hitting anyone or anything in its way. Indirect effects may also include interference with body-worn or implanted medical devices, such as pacemakers and hearing aids.
How often do I need to undertake EMF Monitoring?
The Control of Electromagnetic Fields at Work Regulations state that a risk assessment should be reviewed if “there is a reason to suspect that the risk assessment is no longer valid” or “there has been a significant change in the work to which the assessment relates”.
Examples of changes could include:
Equipment changes – location of equipment, removal, addition, runtimes etc
Control Measures – Enclosures may have been installed and you wish to assess the effectiveness
